This coin is a reproduction of a 14th century Netherlands Burgundian Utrecht groten (groat) minted between 1342-1364 in the city of Deventer located in Holland.
The original coin was minted by John of Arkel or Jan van Arkel who was the Bishop of Utrecht between 1342 to 1364 and Prince-Bishop of Liège from 1364 to 1378.
On the face of the coin features a portrait of Jan van Arkel wearing episcopal regalia within a tressure of seven arches , his coat of arms and the inscription IOH EPC TRA IECTENSIS. The reverse of the coin features a cross with eagle and the inscription BNDICTV SIT NOME DNI NRI IHV XPI , MON ETA DAV ENT.
These coins are hand stamped by a passionate reenactor who performs historical coin minting demonstrations. As each coin is hand stamped small variations may exist adding to the hand made character of the coins.
