Viking Klappenrock Wool Coat

This wrap-style wool coat is based on garments often referred to as a klappenrock, a form seen in early medieval and Viking clothing. Finds and depictions from sites such as Hedeby (Haithabu) suggest the use of overlapping front garments.

The wrap front allows the fit to be adjusted depending on layering. It also creates the distinctive diagonal opening seen in period art

It is made from 100% recycled wool at 350 gsm.

The edges are finished with a contrasting woven trim in a diamond twill (320 gsm wool blend.)

In wear, the coat falls to around knee length depending on height, making it suitable for both everyday impressions and more martial kits. It pairs naturally with belts and accessories, as shown, and can be adjusted at the front to sit closer to the body or more open depending on preference.

Available in three sizes (S/M, L/XL, and XXL/XXXL), the wrap construction allows for a degree of flexibility across chest sizes.

This is a practical outer layer suited to reenactment, LARP, or general early medieval kit.

Care Instructions
Hand wash or use a gentle wool cycle in cold water.
Lay flat to dry.
Steam on low if required.
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
