Make your own Medieval experience and complete your 13th-century Medieval armour harness with this Topfhelm. The Topfhelm also called a pot helm or bucket helm is a type of great helm. The great helm developed during the late 12th century during the crusades and remained in use until the 14th century. The great helm offered full face protection but reduced visibility and ventilation compared to earlier nasal and spangenhelms. Over time the great helm developed into the sugarloaf helmet which incorporated more curvature to better deflect blows.

This helmet is inspired by a helm held by the Museum fur Deutsche Geschichte Berlin. Which was excavated from Deerberg at Bubach (Schlossberg Dargen) in the Provence of Pomerania.

Securely constructed from from steel rivets and made from 20 gauge steel this helm comes complete with an adjustable leather liner and chin strap with solid brass buckle. The helm has a circumference of 68cm which enables the wearer to also fit a suitable padded coif or cap. The interior of the helm is also blackened to improve corrosion resistance.

This helm is most suitable for German and European high middle ages impressions from the late 13th century. Personalise your helm and make your own crest and heraldry with our other crafting materials and accessories.

Other 13th and 14th-century historical armour also available.
