This Twin Midgard Serpent Clasp, is inspired by the Scandinavian Urnes art style.
The Urnes style is from the late Viking period, between approximately 1050 to 1150 and features interwoven animals with elongated features such as jaws, eyes and limbs interlaced in combat scenes.
The Midgard Serpent Jörmungandr in Viking mythology was a giant monster serpent and child of the god Loki and giantess Angrbooa. In the myth, Odin threw Jörmungandr into the ocean that encircles Midgard and Jörmungandr grew so large it could surround the earth and bite its own tale.
Made in two parts, with a hooked tab and a looped receiver.
Crafted using the traditional lost-wax process, this clasp has a unique character in every piece. The bronze finish also develops a patina with time giving an ancient worn effect. Great for Viking-themed costumes and clothing.
