Medieval Linen Braies

Do you need a good pair of underpants? These medieval braies (also known as breeches) might be just what you need.

Braies were worn by men throughout the middle ages. The exact style changed according to exact time period and location. These braies are based on earlier garments, during the late-medieval era and the renaissance, braies became smaller and more form-fitting. 

Historically, linen was a popular choice for underwear, and was slowly replaced with cotton when cotton became more readily available in Europe after the Renaissance. Linen was comfortable to wear on the skin, easy to wash and protected the outer-garments from the body’s sweat and oils.  
Our reproduction features two legs, joined by a wide gusset. They are sewn into a waistband which closes with a drawstring to get the perfect, snug fit. 

These braies are made of natural colour 100% Baltic linen at 150 GSM (grams per square meter, indicating fabric weight). Baltic linen is a natural fiber prized for its durability and breathability, making these breeches ideal for warmer weather

Care instructions: Machine wash at 40C. Warm iron. Do not bleach or tumble dry.

Product includes one pair of braies as described. Other items and accessories not included. Linen fabric tends to have a darker natural colour than linen cotton blends. Please note the colour of the fabric is a little darker than the colour shown in the picture.
