Make your own late Viking period / early middle ages Rus armour with these lamellar steel plates.

Lamellar is made from hundreds of small metal plates laced into horizontal rows with successive rows laced together. Lamellar originated in Asia and spread to Eastern Europe, Russia and Byzantium. Viking traders carried Lamellar to Scandanvia from trade with Byzantium and Russia. 

Archeological evidence for Viking use of lamellar amour has been found at Gotland and Birka in Sweden which was estimated to have been made in the 10th and 11th century. Numerous Rus finds have also been located at Gnezdovo and Novgorod estimated to have been made during the 10th to 13th century.

This lamellar amour is most suitable for 11th to 14th century re-enactment SCA or LARP personas from Asia, Byzantium and eastern Viking Baltic, Rus areas

The design of this plate is from a grave find from a battle of Visby grave find which occurred in 1361 at Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden.

made from 20 gauge brass with eight pre punched holes ready for your next armour crafting project.

The brass may have a dull finish from storage, the plates can be restored to a full shine by cleaning with some Brasso or similar brass cleaning product.

Each plate measures 7cm by 4cm
