Don't smuggle a lighter or matches under your surcoat or apron at your next reenactment or LARP event. Strike the flint to start your fire the old fashioned. Show the public how it was done back then "And yes this is a real fire". Also useful to light the match cord for your musket or canon.
This natural flint stone is great for practicing traditional primitive bush crafts and survival skills.
To use the flint, you hit the fire striker against the flint. The resulting friction creates sparks from the striker which ignites a char cloth or tinder to start the fire.
Until the friction match was invented the use of flint and steel was the most common method of starting a fire.
Each large stone is approximately 8.5cm by 7cm by 6.5cm in size.
We have sourced larger size pieces that are easier to hold in the palm of the hand to make striking easier so the user is less likely to hit their hand with the striker.
As a natural product colours and sizes vary.
Forged fire strikers also available.
Price is for one stone.
