Knife Purchasing Policy
Make Your Own Medieval sell knives which are designed for the following purposes:
- Eating
- Preparing food
- Utility purposes
- Display (eg museum or historical educational display)
- Props or costume (some example uses include for film, reenactment or living history)
None of our bladed knives are intended for any other purpose, and by purchasing a knife you agree to only use it for a lawful reason.
Under new (2024) legislation, knives have restrictions of sales to minors. You must be aged 18 years or older to purchase:
- any knife with a metal blade, this includes cutlery (eating knives) and kitchen knives, with the exception of an exempt knife.
- Knives which are exempt include:
- plastic or wooden knives designed to be used for eating
- knives with a rounded or dull edge (eg a butter knife)
- cheese knives
In purchasing a knife, you agree you are aged 18 or older and not purchasing on behalf of a minor.
If you purchase a knife from us in-person, and you are located in Queensland, Australia, you will be required to show adequate proof of age.
If purchasing online, if your postal address is located withing Queensland, please email us a copy of your proof of age to makeyourownmedieval@gmail.com. If we do not receive your proof of age, we will contact you to request proof of age. We are unable to send age-restricted items until we receive your proof of age.
Proof of age could include:
- A driver’s license
- A national or state issued identity card (eg 18+ card)
- A Queensland Goverment Digital Identity ID
The name on you order must match the name on your proof of age. Please ensure that your order for knife products is placed in your legal name as per your proof of age. If desired, you may redact other details from your proof of age (eg licence number), we only need to see your name and a DOB showing you are over 18.
