Trumpets were historically used as signalling and communication devices in battle, hunting, military organisation, funerals, parades etc. While trumpets were used from ancient times, especially by the Romans, trumpets in this long straight profile are most commonly associated in popular culture with the civilary and pomp of the Medieval period.
Starting in the early middle ages it became fashionable for heralds to announce the arrival of important people, events or holidays with trumpets. This type of announcement was called a fanfare which is generally what these types of trumpets are called.
Heralds used long ceremonial trumpets to announce the arrival of kings, nobles, knights, and important guests. These instruments also marked the beginning of tournaments, royal – military ceremonies, and public proclamations.
This Hand crafted herald’s trumpet is made from genuine brass (not plated) and has a mouth piece. Designed in two detachable sections, it can be easily assembled for use or separated for convenient storage and transport. A red carrying cord provides a practical way to carry or display the trumpet.
Recreate the sounds once heard throughout medieval castles, tournaments, and royal courts. Great for adding music and sound ambience to Medieval and Renaissance events and fairs, theatre performances, historical reenactments, LARP and SCA coronations and ceremonies.
The trumpet is 124cm long when assembled, with a 2.5cm mouthpiece and 12.5 end opening. The shoulder sling is 98 cm long.
