Anglo-Saxon Raised Shield Boss Medium 16 Gauge and Rivets

Make your own Viking or Medieval shield or buckler with this blacksmith forged 16 gauge boss. When mounted onto a shield a boss or umbo protects the hand of the fighter. The boss measures 16.5cm (6.5 inches) in diameter and 6.5 cm (2.55 inches) high and has 4 holes to mount the boss onto your shield. The boss is large enough to fit a hand wearing a glove or gauntlet when mounted.  

This boss is most suitable for Anglo-Saxon impressions.

A similar style of boss was found in the Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Norton (grave 42. An Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Norton, Cleveland S J Sherlock and M G Welch 1992 Council for British Archaeology)  

Also includes 19mm rivets which have a 13mm shank and washers to mount your boss.
