This coin is a reproduction of a penny coin minted in the 10th century by the Viking King Regnald.

Minted at the town of York (Yorvik) during the Viking occupation of Anglo- Saxon England.  

Regnald (Reginald) was the grandson of Ivar the Boneless and great-grandson of Ragnar Lodbrok. He was the ruler of Waterford and York is also known as "King of All the Foreigners of Ireland and England".

An original extant surviving artefact of this coin can be seen in the British Museum Collection (object number E.5091)

The face of the coin features an image of a strung bow and arrow and the reverse shows a hammer of Thor.

These coins are hand-stamped by a passionate reenactor who performs historical coin minting demonstrations. As each coin is hand stamped small variations may exist adding to the hand made character of the coins.
