This coin is a reproduction of Tudor Elizabeth 1st half penny or ha-penny minted between 1582 -1602.  During the Elizabethan era the ha-penny was a silver coin with the value of half a penny and twice the value of a farthing (quarter penny). The ha-penny was a coin used for common daily purchases such as food and drink. It is believed that the first ha-pennies were minted by Edward the 1st. Before the creation of the ha-penny coins such as the penny were cut into halves and quarters.

Like the original coins these ha-pennies are small measuring 1.4cm in diameter.

These coins are hand stamped by a passionate reenactor who performs historical coin minting demonstrations. As each coin is hand stamped small variations may exist adding to the hand made character of the coins.
