A bishop's mantle, also called a bishop's collar is a long chainmail standard designed to protect the throat, shoulders, and upper chest and back. Named for its resemblance to the wide collar on a bishop's mantle, it was popular among the armour worn by German Landsknechts in the 15th and 16th centuries and was worn by infantry and light cavalry.
The mail is made from steel 9mm 17 gauge flat round mild steel riveted rings with alternating solid flat links.
