Mammen Axe - Danish Bronze Pendant

$16.95
Availability: 20 in stock

This pendant is a mini reproduction of an extant Viking axe artefact known as the Mammen axe. The axe is currently held by the national Museum of Denmark. Found in a grave at Mammen in Jutland Denmark. The axe is decorated in the Mammen style, which is named after this find. This style arose in the 900s and was in use until around 1000AD.

The design is thought to be the rooster Gullinkambi (Old Norse “golden comb”). According to Norse mythology Gullinkambi sits on top of the tree Yggdrasil where it wakes the Viking warriors every morning and will crow at the beginning of Ragnarok. In Norse belief, such symbols were more than art—they were charms against misfortune and emblems of inner strength.

Each piece is individually cast in bronze using the ancient lost-wax method, ensuring rich detail and a true historical texture. The pendant’s double-sided design ensures it commands presence from any angle. It arrives ready to wear on a soft yet sturdy black leather cord—fully adjustable for your comfort and style.

Whether worn as a daily talisman or as part of historical costume, this axe pendant speaks of ancient roots and enduring resilience.
