This coin is a reproduction of a Byzantine miliaresion minted by Basil the 1st between 867-886.

The miliaresion coin refers to a silver type of coin minted in Byzantine between the 8th-11th centuries. A popular coin in trade Byzantine coins have been found in archaeological finds such as the Spillings Hoard in Sweden and was most likely carried there by a member of the Varangian Guard returning home from service.

This coin measures 26mm in diameter.

These coins are hand stamped by a passionate reenactor who performs historical coin minting demonstrations. As each coin is hand stamped small variations may exist adding to the hand made character of the coins.
