This coin is a reproduction of a Kingdom of Jerusalem gold bezant coin minted between 1140 to 1260.  The Kingdom of Jerusalem was founded in 1099 during the First Crusade and lasted until 1291.For close to 150 years the crusader kingdoms minted gold bezants to imitate Arab dinars. Even including inscriptions on the coins praising the prophet Muhammad. This style of coin was minted in three phases during the 120 years of issue with little to no changes.

The Crusaders directly copied this style of coin from the Fatimid Dinar coin minted between 1101-1130. During the 12th century Fatimid Dynasty coins were widely traded in the Mediterranean and Middle East due to their reputation for quality.

These coins are hand stamped by a passionate reenactor who performs historical coin minting demonstrations. As each coin is hand stamped small variations may exist adding to the hand made character of the coins.

Made from high quality nugold jewellers brass sheet. Nugold has a higher copper content that standard brass giving it its rich yellow gold colour.
