Norwegian Viking Sword Petersen Type E sword 9th-10th century
Add some Viking atmosphere to your home décor or costume with this Viking sword reproduction. Based on an original artifact from the 9th-10th century held by the national Museum of Denmark.
The sword has a long slender blade with a detailed solid brass three lobed pommel and cylinder shape hilt with a distinguishing array of circular indentations.

The sword has a leather wrapped grip and includes a black leather scabbard. PLEASE NOTE: The scabbard the sword comes with is different from what is pictured, the scabbard does not include the pictured brown leather detailing or attached belt.

Classified as a type E sword by the historian Jan Petersen in in the book De Norske Vikingesverd. A photo of an original artifact recently sold at auction by Bonham’s is shown in the photos below.
Petersen estimated this sword type to first have been made as early first half of the ninth century and is particularly associated with the region around Trondheim Norway.
