Make your own early Germanic or Celtic shield with this pointed shield boss. When mounted onto a shield a boss or umbo protects the hand of the fighter.
The boss is made from 16 gauge steel.
The boss measures 20.5cm in diameter and 13cm high and has four holes to mount the boss onto your shield.
Rivets and washers are not included and are available separately.
A shield boss of this style is currently held by the Met Museum New York from the late 4th century France (Accession Number: 17.192.141).
