Asymmetrical belt buckles were in common use between 1350-1700. During later periods buckles became increasingly ornate such as the style of this buckle which is suitable for clothing and costume between 1500 - 1700 during the Tudor, Elizabethan, and Stuart period.
This buckle suits a 20mm wide strap if the edge is beveled (removing the corner of the edge of the strap). If the strap is not beveled we recommend an 18mm strap.
