This matching sword and scabbard are made from a vibrant red colour leather. The scabbard features a decorative wyvern dragon design and includes a black 146cm long belt (including buckle).

This style of Medieval sword is identified by the historian Ewart Oakeshott as sword type XV in the book Records of the Medieval Sword. Oakeshott identifies this pommel type as type J1 and a sword type of F and notes that swords of this type appear between c1410 – c1550. 

This sword is most suitable for 15th and early 16th-century historical impressions.

Made from high carbon EN45 steel and tempered to a hardness 52-55, this is a functional sword. The tang is one piece and peened over at the pommel. The sword measures 91.5cm with a blade length of 73cm. The handle is 12cm, the hilt is 18.5cm in width and the blade is 5.5cm wide at the hilt. The approximate weight of the sword is 1.4kg. The scabbard is 77cm in length and weighs 550grams

The edge of the sword is not sharp and is approximately 1.5mm to 2mm in thickness. The sword has a pointed tip and is not safe for re-enactment combat.
